On 21 September 2020, a temporary solution for the electronic interconnection of the European and Swiss Emission Trading registries was launched. From that date, holders of accounts in the Union Registry may hold Swiss emission allowances on their accounts, perforrm transactions with counterparties in the Swiss Registry and use Swiss emission allowances for compliance purposes.
