Access to the Union Registry using the Trusted Platform authentication method

Dear account holders,

we would like to inform you about the possibility of using a second authentication method for logging into the Union Registry. The previously used method "EU Login App + QR code" has been supplemented by the method "Trusted Platform or Security Key."

The main benefit of this method is better protection against phishing attacks and misuse of access data, as well as faster and more convenient login. This login method uses the security features of your device, such as Windows Hello, Touch ID, Face ID, or biometrics in Android. Login takes place without repeated password entry.  Identity verification is based on the WebAuthn / FIDO2 standard. Biometric data always remains stored only on your device and is not transferred anywhere.

We recommend that you set up this login method as an additional option so that each user has at least two login options available. This is useful in case one of the methods temporarily stops working. At the same time, it allows you to log in independently even when changing your mobile device, without contacting the registry administrator.

The current login method remains unchanged, but logging in using the "EU Login App +

QR code" method (the EU Login app) is another secure option that we recommend using in the long term.

The manual for setting up the "Trusted Platform or Security Key" method can be found here.
